We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Procurement to lead all procurement activities, with a strong emphasis in the first two years on sourcing and acquiring medical equipment, consumables and technologies critical to the hospital’s functionality.

The Director of Procurement will oversee all procurement functions for the hospital’s construction and operational readiness. This includes strategic sourcing, negotiation, and acquisition of medical equipment, construction materials, and operational supplies. The role requires exceptional leadership, expertise relevant experience in healthcare procurement, and a commitment to ensuring quality and value in all purchases.

Key Responsibilities

1- Strategic Procurement Management

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy for, medical equipment, and operational supplies.
  • Align procurement activities with project milestones, budgets, and operational goals.
  • Establish procurement policies and ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.

2- Medical Equipment Procurement

  • Collaborate with clinical and biomedical engineering teams to define specifications and requirements for medical equipment.
  • Source and negotiate with manufacturers, distributors, and vendors for state-of-the-art medical equipment and consumables.
  • Oversee the procurement, delivery, installation, and commissioning of medical equipment to meet project timelines.

3- Vendor Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and build relationships with reliable suppliers, ensuring favorable warranties, timely delivery and quality.
  • Lead negotiations to secure favorable terms while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain a network of trusted medical equipment providers and construction material suppliers.

4- Budgeting & Financial Oversight

  • Work with the finance team to manage and optimize the procurement budget.
  • Monitor expenses and maintain cost controls without compromising on quality.
  • Analyze the financial implications of procurement decisions and recommend cost-effective solutions.

5- Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure all procured items, especially medical equipment, meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and testing of procured equipment and materials.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits, compliance checks, and future reference.

6- Team Leadership

  • Build and lead a high-performing procurement team with expertise and relevant experience in healthcare and construction procurement.
  • Train and mentor team members to ensure efficiency and accountability in procurement activities.
  • Foster collaboration across teams to meet procurement goals effectively.

Skills

  • Deep knowledge of procurement processes, especially in healthcare and medical equipment.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in procurement, with at least 10 years in hospitals or large-scale healthcare-related organizations and/or projects.
  • Proven track record in sourcing and managing procurement of medical equipment.
  • Experience in vendor negotiations, contract management, and risk mitigation.
